Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties Seeks Winter Wear for Fall Frosty's Closet Event
Raynette Bradford
5 April 2009

While most of us would love to put winter behind us, the Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties, Inc. (JLKD) already is planning for the winter ahead.  To build up inventory for its second annual Frosty’s Closet event, the organization of women dedicated to improving the lives of children at risk throughout DuPage, Kane, Will and Kendall Counties is holding a winter outerwear drive through May 4th.

Created by the JLKD to outfit our community’s needy children with appropriate cold-weather gear, Frosty’s Closet is a children’s outerwear boutique where financially-challenged families can find coats, hats, mittens, snow pants, boots…pretty much everything their little ones may need to brave the winter weather – all FREE OF CHARGE!

“Every child deserves to have proper gear for winter and that is what Frosty’s Closet is all about,” says JLKD President Tracy Rogers.  “Many who came to our first-ever event last year showed up with no coats at all.  While we were able to serve close to 500 children, there were still many we could not outfit due to lack of supplies.  Our goal this year is to make sure that every child goes home with the outerwear they need to stay warm and safe during the cold winter months.  Toward that end, we are asking community members to please keep this project in mind as they are cleaning out their closets this spring and to donate any winter gear their kids may have outgrown or which they plan to discard.”

Winter gear in sizes to fit children from infants to teens can be donated at any of the following Frosty’s Closet drop-off locations between April 13th and May 4th.  All donations are tax deductible.
