 The JLKD is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties, Inc. (JLKD) awards a minimum of two $1,000 scholarships to local, college-bound female high school students who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to voluntarism. Eligibility Requirements and Other Information: - Applicant must be female
- Applicant must reside in Kane, DuPage, Kendall, or Will County
- Applications must be RECEIVED by March 1, 2010
- Recipients may receive this scholarship one time only
- Scholarship proceeds will be transmitted directly to the student’s college or university
- JLKD members and their families are not eligible
- Recipients must attend the JLKD Annual Meeting on May 11, 2010 to accept their scholarships
Applicants must submit the following information for scholarship consideration: - Complete (typewritten) and sign application form, including a typewritten essay that, in one page or less, describes your volunteer experience. Include your feelings about volunteering and explain how your volunteer experience has benefited both you and the community.
- One letter of recommendation from an academic advisor, counselor, teacher, employer or volunteer organization supervisor. The letter should focus on the student’s volunteer efforts and also may also include academic and other achievements.
- Proof of acceptance to an established, accredited college or university. If acceptance is still pending, please provide a list of schools where the student has applied.
